Hi,
My 1TB HDD won't boot into windows 8 and I want to recover some important files stored on it before I have to wipe it. I've put the drive into an external USB caddy and can see the various partitions via Photorec but when trying the recover from the drive after a couple of hours it says it's going to take over 2500 hours to complete and the files it's recovering don't seem to be increasing like it does in the early stages.
I'm sure this must have been asked by someone, somewhere before but is there a way I can back certain file extensions only, i.e. *.JPG, *.DOC etc to try and speed things up.
Ps. There isn't a space issue with the location of where the files are copied to btw..
Thanks in advance.

Re: Recover Certain Files
In FileOpts, you can disable unnecessary file extensions. Disabling txt, tx? abd EcryptFS are a good way to speed up the recovery.
