Space conflict between the following two partitions

#1 Post by Ravna » 04 May 2016, 05:55

Hi. Sorry if this is the 50th post about the exact same issue. I just don't understand what I see, and what I am to do with it. Any help appreciated.

This happened: I turned off my pc normally (Windows 10), unplugged one disk and used the cables to plug in another. Booted up, took the files I needed, and switched again in the same way. When I then booted up again my disk was "Not accessible. The file or directory is corrupted and unreadable" I tried chkdsk, but it said that the master "file table is corrupt, chkdsk aborted". Searching the internet led me to Testdisk, and I ran it last night according to the step by step guide. After searching through all the cylinders it just asked me to create a partition (I think). I didn't think to screenshot it (3 am in the morning), and just closed the application.
Today, when trting to access my disk, it says "Not accessible, the parameter is incorrect". Bummer if I've made it worse, but oh well...
I should mention that each time I load Testdisk it suggest that I have an unpartitioned disk. I then chose the Intel alternative.

This is the result from the Testdisk analyse, it is the same as it was last night before searching and exiting: https://drive.google.com/open?id=0B971m ... mJqYWE1b28

I think this is what the log says?: I'm trying to recover E. All my disks are internal.

You tried to search a partition inside a partition... Not a good idea.

Run TestDisk, select disk /dev/sdf, Advanced, select the partition, Boot, RebuildBS, List. If you see your files, choose Write, confirm, Quit and restart.
If List doesn't work, try RepairMFT.
If RepairMFT failed, run PhotoRec instead. http://www.cgsecurity.org/wiki/PhotoRec_Step_By_Step

Thank you for your advice! :)
PhotoRec did the trick. Now all that remains is to look through 260000 files to find the ones I actually need. :D But this only requires time and coffee.

Thank you very much! :)
