1TB WD not seen in Win 10 - but yes in Test Disk 7.1

#1 Post by ozstar »

Hi,

Was okay this morning but now Win 10 1903 doesn't see the disk which has 2 partitions.
Disk Mgmt say it is unallocated.

I used Testdisk 7.1 and this was the result
TestDisk 7.1, Data Recovery Utility, July 2019 Disk /dev/sdc - 1000 GB / 931 GiB - CHS 121601 255 63 Current partition structure Partition Start End Size in sectors Partition sector doesn't have the endmark 0xAA55

Quick Search
TestDisk 7.1, Data Recovery Utility, July 2019 Disk /dev/sdc - 1000 GB / 931 GiB - CHS 121601 255 63
Partition Start End Size in sectors
>* HPFS - NTFS 0 32 33 51485 240 19 827119616 [WEBMAIN-PROGRAMS]
P HPFS - NTFS 51485 240 20 121600 247 55 1126397952 [WEBMAIN-GRAPHICS]

Continue
TestDisk 7.1, Data Recovery Utility, July 2019 Disk /dev/sdc - 1000 GB / 931 GiB - CHS 121601 255 63

2 P HPFS - NTFS 51485 240 20 121600 247 55 1126397952 [WEBMAIN-GRAPHICS]

When I use P to list the files on both partitions I get this
Can't open filesystem. Filesystem seems damaged.
Where to from here? Deeper Search or Write (Hopefully not over our files)?

Thank you

Run "deeper search" if you are missing further partitions.
Otherwise use Photorec to recover content.

Are you using Windows 10 in a dual boot configuration?

Many thanks for your help.
No it isn't a dual boot.
I did try a Deeper Search but I know there are no more partitions.

So I guess I will try Photorec.

What do I click to do this as I have never used it before.

Thanks again.

Many thanks. Chose 'Write' in TestDisk.
Now all good after a reboot.
Great program. A saviour for sure.
