How can I fix partition access on the new 64 GB USB sticks that have a capacity of (61 GB / 57 GiB)?
This is for future reference.
In years gone by when windows would prompt to format a drive I had been regularly using, I would run testdisk to re-write (I assume partition information) then everything would work as normal.
This does not appear to work with the "new" 64 GB USB sticks with a capacity of (61 GB / 57 GiB).
I ran testdisk and could see all files and folders without an issue, but re-writing the partition does not seem to work.
Windows still required the memory stick to be formatted before I could continue to use the memory stick.
I had a backup so I quick formatted and copied from one to the other.
Any help will be greatly appreciated.
Please advise.

"chkdsk /f d:" (replace d: by the USB drive letter) may have been able to fix the filesystem and avoid to reformat the filesystem.
