Testdisk to remove Virtual CD volume/partitions?

Hi,

Re: How To Recover Lost Files With Mac

Have you read the step by step guide?

That's the first place to start - this forum doesn't have a massive membership, so I don't expect anyone to spend the time detailing all the procedures.

Re: Can TestDisk Reformat?

UPDATE:

I am able to mount this drive on a PC and format as NTFS. This newly formatted drive will mount on my mac as a generic empty drive.

However, when I try to format as HFS+ with disktutil or GUI app, the format fails, and the procedure renders the drive unreadable to the mac again.

But ...

Re: Can TestDisk Reformat?

Thank you Fiona.

After I recovered the data with Testdisk, I attempted to format the drive with Disk Utilites in OSX. The process was partially completed, then failed with the error noted above.

I then tried Drive Genius and it failed to initialize the drive also ...

Can TestDisk Reformat?

So, the good news is I was able to fully recover 100% of my corrupt data on my 1TB drive using testdisk to copy data.Thank you!

Once I recovered what I needed, I used MAC DiskUtil to try to erase the drive. The erase got about 40% done then DiskUtil gives me the following error:

When I path down to the desired folder I am trying to recover files from, Subfolder are generally listed alphabetical - but I have many folders that show up randomly, out of alphabetical order. Because this ...

Re: FAT32 File Table Recovery?

Thank you both for the reply.

I never thought to copy the data using Testdisk. I will attempt to copy some files, and if I see success, I will expand my copy scope greater and greater. How does Testdisk locate the data when copying? Is it different then how the OS would access the data structure ...
